Incidental finding of a rare left atrial appendage anomaly: A case report

Introduction. Congenital hypoplasia of the left atrial appendage (LAA) with stenotic ostium in an abnormal position is extremely rare entity. We report exceptional case hypoplastic LAA ostial stenosis location patient mitral valve that was mistaken transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for intraluminal thrombus. Case report. A 43-year-old woman admitted to our center dyspnea on exertion. TEE revealed presence severe and clot LAA. The underwent open cardiac surgery by cardiopulmonary bypass. Intraoperative inspection atrium slit-like ostium. There also a malposition placed paravalvular location. not round wide but narrowed slit-like. Conclusion. authors believe this anomaly may have some physiologic consequences patients mild structural failure. Indeed, aggravate severity failure pressure burden wall valve.
